Agency Worker Regulations (AWR)
New legislation taking effect 1st October 2011 – relevant to temporary workers and employers of temporary workers
Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) is the introduction of new rights for agency workers, a government legislation which comes into force in the UK on 1 October 2011.
The Regulations implement the EU Agency Workers Directive as agreed in 2008 between the CBI and TUC.
The purpose of the new legislation is to give agency workers the right to the same basic employment and working conditions as a staff member recruited directly by a company in the same position, if and when they complete a 12 week qualifying period in a job.
This guide, provided by APSco is intended to help organisations assess the impact of the Agency Workers Regulations.
