The Angela Mortimer Group Plc. hosted its 12th consecutive blue book launch event this morning at their London offices. The primary goal of the blue book launch was to bring various companies, recruiters and clients together under one roof to discuss the results of our annual employment survey. We visited several companies, spoke to a number of candidates and had the participation of over 2,100 people from each stage of the recruitment process whether it be business leaders, candidates or clients. Our research was collated by people (not computers) and the result came from experts sharing real stories, consultants conducting conversations with candidates face-to-face and ‘people talking to people’.


Headlines...

  • There is greater optimism in market from Cands/Clients despite challenges
    • 68% of companies in the UK expect increase headcount in 2016
    • 73% of candidates are confident of finding their next positio
    • 54% of companies describe the recruitment market as challenging

  • Attraction methods – through people to people networks
    • 77% of candidates recognise previously used agencies as their primary tool for sourcing new employment

  • Employer Branding at the Interview Stage
    • The average interview process is 2.58 interviews long
    • The importance of interview feedback – 53% of did not receive feedback last yea
    • The temporary market – it is now a strategic way to recruit
    • 75% of companies report that temp usage will stay the same
    • 61% of companies take longer than a week to fill a temp booking
    • 46% of temporary workers are not vetted by companies to the same standard as their permanent hires.

Overall, for many organisations the quest for the Quality Candidate is perhaps more than a narrowly defined sourcing challenge, and provides important measures on the effectiveness of the wider recruitment process.  Get it right and a company can gain a large competitive edge against their competitors.
